Oui…. ‘Ot Pot
Actors Direct clients in Art House style mini drama showing the charming, continental side of Blackpool.
There was much press coverage last week of Blackpool’s latest ad campaign aimed at encouraging viewers to take a fresh look at the much loved seaside resort. The sleek internet mini drama, produced by SKV Communications, featured not one, but two Actors Direct clients. Deborah Pugh plays the ‘poor, unhappy (but still so stylish)’ Parisienne, Valerie, distraught at having to leave the town she’s grown to love so much. As she sits in a cafe, writing of her troubles to her maman she is comforted by the waitress, played by our own Julie Parton.

The ad is to be broadcast via You Tube and social networking sites as part of Blackpool’s re-branding for the 21st century. Here’s what the press had to say about it:
The Guardian- It’s very funny…. as a small but witty effort to re-brand perhaps the most cliché-laden of all British coastal resorts for the domestic market, it’s brilliant. http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2009/may/15/blackpool-advert-paris-tourism-otp
BBC News- …artfully shot. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/8049362.stm
