Yes – our very own Annie Wallace has been nominated at this year’s Scottish BAFTA Awards.
Following on from her recent win at the National Diversity Awards – we are incredibly proud of this fantastic actress who is a wonderful ambassador for diversity in the arts.

We’re so thrilled to announce that Annie Wallace has scooped up the ‘Celebrity of the Year’ award at the National Diversity Awards 2016.
A well deserved win against stiff competition for Annie who plays Headmistress Sally on Hollyoaks. Annie is rapidly becoming a fantastic ambassador and role model for many groups, charities and campaigns celebrating LGBT identity and diversity internationally.

Our very own ANNIE WALLACE has been shortlisted for the UK’ Largest Diversity Awards
ANNIE has been shortlisted for the CELEBRITY OF THE YEAR at the National Diversity Awards 2016.
Charities and Role Models from across the UK will gather at the breathtaking Anglican Cathedral on September 16th 2016 for The National Diversity Awards.
The Best of British Diversity will travel to Liverpool to celebrate the outstanding achievements of those who have demonstrated their devotion to enhancing equality, diversity and inclusion in today’s society.
Over 20,000 nominations and votes were received this year, paying tribute to grass root communities nationwide.
The prestigious black tie event is definitely one to mark down on your calendar and provides recognition for excellence regardless of race, faith, religion, gender, identity, sexual orientation, age, disability and culture.
Microsoft will be just one of the brands supporting a skyfall of diversity talent alongside Adidas, Direct Line Group, ThoughtWorks, Financial Ombudsman Service, Kier, MI5, MI6, GCHQ, PwC, Transport for London, ITV and The Open University.
A spokesperson for Adidas commented “Our objective is to have a workforce that is as diverse in it’s make up as our consumers in the market place. Showing commitment, providing support, being real and partnering with authentic organizations like National Diversity Awards will stand us in good stead to achieve this.”
Designed to highlight the country’s most inspirational and selfless people, the NDA’s are supported by the likes of Stephen Fry, Adam Hills and Sir Lenny Henry amongst many.
British Diver & Television Presenter Tom Daley also applauded the awards stating, “The National Diversity Awards is a celebration of the fantastic work within Diversity, Equality & Inclusion by all positive role models and community organisations. Everybody who has been nominated and shortlisted is striving towards making society better for everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, faith, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. This is important because you are having a positive impact to people’s lives.
I would like to wish all the shortlisted nominees the very best of luck at this year’s National Diversity Awards.” He added.
Previous winners include Huddersfield based Disability Theatre Group Shabang!, Freedom Fighting Refugee Aderonke Apata, and Foster Focus Founder Luke Rodgers.
Internationally acclaimed contemporary artist, Rachel looked back on her time winning the positive role model award in 2013 “It truly was a tremendously uplifting emotional evening, and I don’t think there was a single person in the room who would disagree with that! The evening represented everything that is good about our society”.
Rachel went on to receive the award for battling successfully against a potentially life limiting illness to produce works of art that are applauded worldwide.
She continued “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating an exceptional night, the challenges ahead are still enormous, but with the ND Award in my hand, I will journey forward with renewed hope and ambition to try to do so much more, and in my efforts, hopefully I will, in some way, contribute to making the vital cultural shift within our society.”
